Junior and Senior Infants
Easter Term 2019
We have had activity filled days in the infant room this term! We learnt all about electricity in Science and went on an electricity trail around our school which was lots of fun. For Valentine’s Day we made beautiful love bugs out of clay which turned out really well and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed making them.
Senior Infants are making very good progress using their number lines in maths for addition and Junior Infants are also enjoying maths; especially all the measuring and weighing of objects. The pupils made a really good effort to speak Gaeilge during Seachtain na Gaeilge and it was lovely to hear all the chat and enthusiasm.
In ICT we are continuing with our typing programme and the pupils have worked consistently hard at their keyboard skills – well done! We took part in Engineers Week and had a visit from an engineer who taught us how to make stable towers using toilet roll tubes and masking tape.
We presented an assembly on Elijah and learned about making “quiet times” in our lives for talking to God. We also visited St Patrick’s Cathedral and completed lovely art activities there, including stained glass windows. In SPHE we are covering the Stay Safe programme and learning about being a good friend. We also wrote our own books for the Write a Book competition and the completed entries were of an excellent standard, well done!
