Third & Fourth Class
We have had a great and busy September. 3rd class have settled well into their new classroom and fourth class have welcomed two new members into their class. We have worked with our new reading buddies, which we’re really enjoying.
We have also learned a lot about the Vikings, including a visit to Dublinia, a project and Viking art. We practised our typing, completing a project on Australia in pairs/ small groups.
In English we read Kensuke’s Kingdom and really enjoyed the adventure and reading a novel as a whole class. In Science we made our own bubble mix formula, paper cup telephones; testing sound waves and we tested the absorbent material in nappies.
We have been very busy in 3rd & 4th class since coming back after the Easter break. We have started our new novels; 3rd class are reading ‘James and the Giant Peach’ and 4th class are reading ‘Tom’s Midnight Garden’.
In Maths we have been measuring weight, length, capacity and area. In Geography and Science we have been studying the Solar System, producing a mini project based on the planets. In art we created a 3-D papier mache display of the Solar System.
In Geography we have also learnt about China and created our own Chinese art and also worked on ‘Country Projects’, choosing and researching into a country of our choice.
In PE we have learnt a dance to ‘Can’t stop the feeling’ from the film ‘The Trolls’ which has been great fun. We also played ‘Hot Seat’ practicing our basketball skills and ‘Capture the Flag’.
In Drama we are finishing our rehearsals of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.
We are really enjoying Tag Rugby coaching with Leinster Rugby (View our photos)
